A traumatic history or experience can be life changing and wreak havoc on sense of safety, connection, and self. There are many ways to treat trauma, that's why it requires an individualized approach. Trauma therapy requires sensitivity, patience, and training to help the client work through the impact of their experience. It's sometimes difficult to pinpoint trauma responses in some people's reactions because they can come in many different representations, behaviors, and timeframes. It can be a very lonely place for someone who's experienced trauma especially when the people around them don't always know how to help or understand. Counseling can be a helpful path of healing out the suffering and aftermath of trauma no matter when the trauma was experienced in someone's life.
