Anxiety can come in a variety of packages and presentations which can feel utterly distracting to downright debilitating. There are many different examples of how stress and anxiety present itself in people. Sometimes it's even hard to tell how you're feeling because of the differences in responses to life stressors. I utilize research-based techniques to help clients learn and develop the skills to cope differently. The newly learned coping skills can help clients feel more empowered to deal with what stresses them and not feel as trapped by the discomfort of uncertainty or what they can't change. There are many different techniques for social anxiety, catastrophizing, "what if" patterns, anticipatory dread and beyond. Sometimes anxiety is hard to recognize, however building awareness can be the first beneficial step to know how to cope and feel better.
